A compilation highlighting some notable examples of MAKESHIFT's unique lo-fi experimental character. All of these tracks include basically the same group of then high-school-aged nerdy weirdos in different combinations, with the exception of "chester, chester" - done entirely by Jeremiah Gregg, and "dan's room" - done by The Racing Pisshorses.

This was the first MAKESHIFT CD(R), made when CDRs were just starting to be available and doable for average people. We had to mail the tape off to get it transferred ($50?), then take the master copy to a studio to get it copied ($6 per copy including black text printing directly on the discs!). The technology was still prohibitively expensive for us to own ourselves. We were amazed to have our stuff on cd.

Mike Richards ran the Makeshift Music, etc. label beginning in high school from 1996 to 2003. He started releasing cassette albums recorded on a Yamaha MT50 4 track cassette recorder by himself and with close friends in Minonk, Illinois.
